• After Gleason's regularly scheduled weekly show was cancelled in 1970, he did some specials for CBS-TV. When his contract with them was finished, Gleason signed with ABC-TV in January 1975.

• It was created for distribution to the media (newspapers and magazines). The image was meant to attract attention and publicity for the personalities pictured, the show or special and the network it was part of. The aim of this image was exactly the same as the publicity shots/stills done in the film industry.

"Publicity photos (star headshots) have traditionally not been copyrighted. Since they are disseminated to the public, they are generally considered public domain, and therefore clearance by the studio that produced them is not necessary."
