Jean-Charles Pichegru, général français de la Révolution, né à Arbois le 16 février 1761. Après s'être couvert de gloire et avoir sauvé la Révolution française en mettant à mal la flotte hollandaise avec sa cavalerie, il la trahit et fut déporté en Guyane. Après évasion, il participe au complot organisé par Cadoudal et visant à enlever le Premier Consul, il est livré par un de ses soldats et arrêté puis transféré au Temple. Il se suicide ensuite dans sa cellule le 6 avril 1804.
