Hollow copper alloy military button c. 1700-1900.
Description
English: Copper alloy post medieval button (c. 1700-1900). The button is a hollow two-piece button. The convex front of the button is decorated with a Welsh dragon at the centre with the lettering DENBIGHSHIRE VOLUTEER RIFLES in a band around the circumference. The reverse is slightly concave with a loop attachment that has been bent over. The back of the button is impressed with the lettering SUPERIOR QUALITY. It is possible this came from an officer's tunic.
