Description

French print of albumen silver photographs taken in 1875 by Holtermann and Bayliss. Photos taken atop a ridge of Sydney’s North Shore. Originally entitled "Panorama of Sydney Harbour and suburbs", the work was exhibitied at Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition, 1876 ; Exposition Universelle Internationale, Paris, 1878 ; Sydney International Exhibition, 1879.

"7 Half-tone illustrations of photographs of Australian scenery. The work in this suggest that Charles-Guillaum Petit, or some other French printer, was well ahead of Ives in producing quality prints. Approximately 100 lines to the inch, the same screen ruling that was used by Ives at this time."--Hanson Collection catalog, p. 75
