British English: A Royal Air Force (RAF) Harrier is seen landing, at RAF Wittering, on a Forward Operating or Mexe Pad. The pad measures 100 by 100 feet (30 m × 30 m) and is made from Prefabricated Surface Aluminium Interlocking (PSAI) matting. The pads are used by novice pilots and veterans alike to practice the accuracy of their vertical landings.
