Flintlock tinderpistol

Description

Flintlock Tinder Lighter (so designated at Fork Museum). Stained wood pistol-grip handle attached by screws to brass trigger-and-flint mechanism. A round receptacle under the flint contains a flammable fibre. At the side of the nose of the gun there is a chamber for storage of flints. The door to this chamber is on a spring catch. Inside the door is a mark: TA under a crown (?). To one side of the nose is attached a tiny candle holder. The nose of the gun rests on trivet-shaped legs to form a tripod with the but of the gun.; - # engraved on bottom of brass next to legs. - Nutting: a similar but much simpler sparker. VINTAGE: approved for our time period by the Jesters
