English: Dvarapala (door guard) statues are common in Sri Lanka for both Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Earlier they were crafted in granite and other materials. Today, they make from cement, plaster of paris, etc. Plasterer artists make gate guardian statue per Tamil folklore which influences from Tamil Nadu, and they resemble Karuppu Sami, Aiyanar, Muneeswarar, etc.
