| Description |
English: An interesting microtruck labelled "Damsel", seen in Ho Chi Minh City. These things have 250cc 14-15hp motorcycle engines built by ZongShen, according to a marketing sheet and can carry 500kg. Built by Đức Phương Auto. The Vietnamese government allowed these motorcycle-engined four-wheelers to be built since 2009, but only as a transition product intended to help motorize the country. Considered "four-wheeled motorbikes", they were only sold in some provinces (including Ho Chi Minh City) and received government subsidized loans, minimal inspections, and requiring a lower level "A4" driver's license. In the first two years, about 10,000 Damsels were built.(2011 article) By 2014, regulations began to be tightened as the government had decided it did not want any more of these microtrucks on the roads.(article) Duc Phuong Auto now acts as importers for Lifan and other Chinese brands. |
