Description

A computer simulation of predator-prey dynamics in Kielder Forest (Northern UK), showing the generation of target pattern type waves following the removal of a large central obstacle (Kielder water: white) that was generating these waves because of a Dirichlet condition on its boundary. The colours indicate prey density (blue=low, red=high). This image is uploaded for use in the article on periodic travelling waves.
