DescriptionCharles Watson, of Saughton, and his Wife, and Children.jpg
English: Margaret was the daughter of George Carnegie, 6th Earl of Northesk. They married on 15th October 1780. James Watson, shown interacting with the dog, was the last known Chief of Clan Watson, based on records from the Court of Lord Lyon. Contemporary sources also refer to Charles as Chief of the name in Scotland.
The foreground elements in the composition frame the landscape which recedes to the distant Firth of Forth.
