editThis is the only known (and/or located) image available after an exhausting Google Image Search and Yahoo Image Search. Version #1 is a very bad photoscan of a newspaper image from 1991, when the subject died. Image versions #2 and #3 are better quality versions of the original news image.
Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:
- It illustrates an important historical article about the entity that the image represents. Casolaro was a reporter whose suspicious death in 1991 generated national media coverage.
- The image is a small, black and white, general circulation, mainstream newspaper image over eighteen years old and of no known copyright holder status.
- The image has been enhanced by the uploader, using computer photo-editing software, for qualities of sharpness and softness. The image "CasolaroDanny2.jpg" is a better quality image of the same newspaper image in #2. The source for CasolaroDanny2.jpg is http://nationalcorruptionindex.org/pages/profile.php?profile_id=264. The image 'CasolaroDanny3.jpg' is a higher quality version of #1 and #2, found on a blog of a reporter who was researching Casolaro's death and had gone through his archives - http://survivethejivealive.blogspot.com/2010/06/death-of-reporter-danny-casolaro.html
- The image is a low resolution, and thus not suitable for production of counterfeit goods.
- The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of the article topic.
- The image is not used in such a way that a reader would be confused into believing that the article is written or authorized by the owner of any copyright.
- The image is not replaceable with an known uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value.
