Description
English: Really need help with this one. It's an effigy of Judge Keogh (William Keogh), an unpopular judge of land cases in the West of Ireland. Our catalogue says this was taken circa 1880, but a really swift search shows that burning effigies of Judge Keogh is referred to earlier and later than 1880.

P.S. Most of Thomas J. Wynne's photos were taken in and around Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

Anyhow, let's see what the Flickr hivemind can produce on this one, which has a really Wild West flavour to it...

Thanks to John Spooner, we now have a relatively accurate date for this photo. Have a look at all of John's comments below for lots of information on the infamous Judge Keogh from contemporary newspaper reports in the Freeman's Journal and from the book Famous Irish Trials...
