English: A standing frame is a device used to help a child to stand, who otherwise does not have the ability to stand or stand with good balance or posture.
This could be due to a condition such as cerebral palsy. Being supported in a good standing position allows the child to be on eye level with his/her peers, for weight bearing through the legs, for stretching of the muscles in the legs and it leaves the child's hands free so that he can engage in an activity.
Imported standing frames are very expensive. These wooden standing frames are locally produced by a non-profit organization, made by locally trained carpenters. They are therefore much more affordable for government hospitals, special needs-schools, private individuals and other NPOs working with children affected by disabilities.
