DescriptionBournemouth, The Lansdowne - geograph.org.uk - 509109.jpg
English: Bournemouth: The Lansdowne The Lansdowne roundabout is the centre of the town's business district, with many University buildings and major offices of many financial institutions. The building centre of picture, with the clock tower, is discussed in more detail here: 480650. The large building far left (with KFC on the ground floor) is 618492, built on the site of the Hotel Metropole which was destroyed by enemy bombing in the second World War.
The green triangular 'island' behind the car in the foreground, and a similar one just out of picture to the right, were once the roofs of the underground gents' and ladies' toilets, before they were demolished and replaced by these rather more appealing patches of greenery.
