Description
English: Belzec extermination camp of the Operation Reinhard in occupied Poland. Aerial photograph of the camp perimeter taken in 1944 by the German Luftwaffe (common with death factories after cleanup, making sure that it is safe to abandon). All known structures are gone except for the brick-and-mortar garage and auto-shop for the SS, whose foundations still exist today (lower left). Across the fence, separated from the main camp, the Hiwi guards living quarters and sorting yard (left). Some outlines of dismantled barracks can still be seen surrounded by walking sand. The railway unloading platform consisted of two parallel ramps visible in the bottom, marked with the red arrow. A smaller arrow shows the holding pen for Jews still waiting to be processed. Location of gas chambers marked with a cross. Undressing and hair-cropping area marked with rectangle with adjacent "Sluice" through the woods.
Polski: Oboz śmierci Belzec w czasie niemieckiej okupacji Polski. Fotografia lotnicza, niemiecka, na krótko przed opuszczeniem terenu w 1944 roku. "Droga do nieba" oznaczona linią przerywaną.
