Description
English: In 1939, the British turned a military camp at Atlit, 20 km. south of Haifa, into a detention camp for illegal Jewish immigrants. Tens of thousands of Jews were interned there, surrounded by barbed wire.
This is a photo of a place that is recognized as a heritage site by the Council for Conservation of Heritage Sites in Israel.
