Prior to the election the Conservatives held a narrow majority of the seats on the council. Out of the sixteen seats up for election, five seats changed party hands, leading to the Conservative Party losing their majority and the council going under no overall control.[2] [3] Whilst the Conservatives remained the largest party after the election, a Liberal Democrat and Labour party coalition subsequently took control of the council.[4]
