Dates
editDates for the first two qualifying rounds, and any preliminaries required, were set by the individual Regional leagues. From round three, the FFF defined the calendar, with rounds up to and including the round of 32 being scheduled for weekends and later rounds up to, but not including, the final, taking place on midweek evenings. Due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup taking place in November and December, it was necessary to bring forward the eighth round by a week, compared to previous seasons, impacting the scheduling of earlier rounds. Similarly the timeline of rounds from the round of 64 onwards was compressed.[3]

Teams
editRound 1 to 6

Mainland teams willing to travel overseas
editThe team from Tahiti played their seventh round tie at home. On 18 October 2022 the list of National, National 2 and National 3 clubs who had put themselves forward as candidates for overseas travel was published. Teams not selected were included in the draw for overseas travel in the eighth round, should they have qualified.[8]

Round 8
editThe eighth round ties for mainland matches was made at the same time as the seventh round draw. Matches including the teams from Martinique and Guadeloupe were slotted into the draw where gaps appear due to teams being selected to travel overseas.
Prioritised order of mainland teams
editThe winners of the seventh round matches in Réunion and French Guiana played their eighth round match at home against teams from mainland France. A draw on 18 October 2022 prioritised the list of clubs for these fixtures, should they win their seventh round games.[9] FCM Aubervilliers and Évreux FC 27 were the highest in the list to qualify for the eighth round.

Seventh round
editThe draw for the seventh round took place in multiple stages:
- The seventh round in Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana and Réunion will take place between the two qualifying teams from each territory, and were drawn and scheduled by the local league.
- The Overseas tie involving the team from Tahiti was drawn separately on 18 October 2022, against a team from the list of those willing to travel.[8]
- Mainland teams were divided into ten groups, by geography and to ensure the groups are balanced in terms of the levels of the teams.[10] The draw took place on 19 October 2022.[11]

- ^ The original match, on 20 November 2022 at Stade Robert Pirès in Cormontreuil, was abandoned after 65 minutes, with the score 3–0 at the time. A fight broke out on the pitch after a player from either side was sent off. Fans entered the field, and the coach of Wasquehal Football was knocked unconscious, requiring emergency services removing him to hospital.[20][21] On 15 December 2022, the FFF announced that both Reims Sainte-Anne and Wasquehal were disqualified from the cup.[22][23] After both clubs appealed to the CNOSF, that body ruled that the match should be replayed, which the FFF accepted, scheduling the game for 11 January 2023.[24]

- ^ The tie was originally scheduled for 19 November 2022, but the FFF postponed it after issues over the approval for use of a temporary stand.[29] On 22 November, it was confirmed that the match would take place at Stade Pierre Compte, as was the plan for the original fixture, on 17 December 2022.[30] However, the match was again postponed due to weather conditions and an unplayable pitch.[31] On 19 December 2022, Caen announced that the tie would be played on 21 December 2022 in their stadium.[32][33]
- ^ Although the match finished 3–0 to Caen, a challenge was lodged over the eligibility of substitute Dieudonné Gaucho Debohi, with the claim being that the player was under a suspension.[34] The challenge was upheld by the FFF on 27 December 2022, meaning Caen were disqualified from the competition, and AF Virois qualified for the next round.[35]

- ^ US Pays de Cassel were drawn to meet either EF Reims Sainte-Anne or Wasquehal Football in the round of 64, but their eighth round match was abandoned after 65 minutes due to crowd trouble; as a result of the disqualification of both teams, Pays de Cassel were initially awarded bye to the round of 32.[22][23] However, after both disqualified clubs appealed to the CNOSF, that body ruled that the eighth round match should be replayed, which the FFF accepted.[24] US Pays de Cassel eventually faced the winners, Wasquehal Football, on 14 January 2023.
